March 24, 1989 – October 11, 2022
Joshua Jamie Burns
Joshua J. Burns, age 33, passed away Tuesday, October 11 at his house in Prairieville, LA. He was born March 24, 1989, in Dayton, OH, the son of Jamie and Julie (Boehringer) Burns. Josh is survived by his parents, his sister Jordan and her fiancé Hunter Wilks, grandparents Rosalia and Rick Hoelscher, great aunt Erlinda Nickel and family, aunts and uncles Becca Woolley-Stumpff and Kurt Stumpff, Scott and Melannie Woolley, Andrew and Christina Kruse and family, Rita Fogt, Roger Burns, Jean and Gary Warman, cousins Gage Woolley and Greg Partin, Bryce Woolley and family, Silas Stumpff, Olivia Stumpff, Paige Stumpff, Aaron Badiola, Benedict Samera, Jacob and Kylie Burns, Jennifer and Phil Macias, Matt and Tasha Warman, Jesse and Tina Warman, extended family members Joe and Julie Hoelscher, and David Roshto. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Delmar and Violet Burns.
Josh graduated from Sidney High School in 2007 and upon graduating started college at the University of Cincinnati School of Business. An avid Bearcat fan, Josh spent three years there before realizing the bar industry was a better path for him. Over the years, Josh became a bar industry expert and eventually came to own Fred’s OTR (On The River) in Prairieville, LA, and becoming a staple of the community. Josh enjoyed spending time with his French bulldog – Freddie, shooting pool, and cheering on the San Francisco 49ers.
Josh was a light to this world and believed in family over everything. He had a “s**t eating grin” that everyone knows, and a soul made of pure good. His smile was contagious, and his laugh would light up the room. His personality was larger than life and his heart was genuine. Everyone wanted to be around him, and the world will not be the same without him here.
Josh was a friend to many. His time in this world ended far too soon, but in the short time he had, he has established a history and legacy of love and friendship that will live on through his family, his friends, and anyone who shared the pleasure of his acquaintance. As Josh said, “if you ain’t having fun, you ain’t doing it right.” Fly High, Josh!
Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a memorial service held at 6:00 PM.
A celebration of life where all are welcome to join, will be held at a later date in Sidney, OH. Please sign our online registry book.

Yesterday at the costume store, I met a real nice lady with a friendly and bubbly way and she was telling me about their close friend, Josh. My heart just broke for her and those who loved and knew Josh. I did not know Josh. My heart goes out to his mama and daddy and all those who were blessed by his time on Earth. Psalms 91 and verse 11 tells us (Psalms 91:11) For He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go.
I just couldn’t get out of bed until I asked for His help in living on without my loved ones. It hurts and He loves us so much and has done so much for us all. I hope this passage will give you strength and hope to live on in peace.. Brenda Dunnagan, Watson, Louisiana.

Our family was so blessed to have you in our lives. Thinking about all of the times we played corn hole together or even when you slept on our couch. So grateful to have these memories with you. You will always have a special place in our hearts.

What a great person Josh was. Everyone that met him, Loved him. That laugh and shit eating grin would light up any person that he met. Will be remembered by all who came into contact with him. Prayers for his immediate family and for his friends. He never left me without saying I love you buddy. And the last time was just a few days before he left this world. We gave each other a huge hug as he was leaving. Great person gone way to soon.

A quote from Tom Petty comes to mind as I attempt to sign this registry. “You and I will meet again, When we’re least expecting it, one day in some far off place, I will recognize your face, I won’t say goodbye my friend, for you and I will meet again.” rest easy Josh. Continued prayers and condolences for your family, loved ones & friends!

Josh was a wonderful young man! He was a student in my Spanish classes in high school! So much fun to have in class, and always ornery, but always treated me with respect! You will be greatly missed. Que descanse en paz
