Trecy Howze Sibley, 94, Walker, Louisiana passed away at Maison de Fleur Assisted Living Facility surrounded by loved ones on October 25, 2022. She was affectionately known as Mama, Meme, and Maw Maw Trecy, and some of her closest friends knew her as Sam and Clem. Trecy was born on December 6 th , 1927 to Lawrence and Lillie Howze in Holden, Louisiana. Trecy loved Jesus and faithfully served Him at Magnolia Baptist Church in Holden. She attended and graduated from Holden school in 1945. After World War II ended, she met and married her sweetheart, Kerney Allen Sibley, on October 26, 1946. Dad passed in 1982 from cancer; mom never remarried. He was her one true love. Throughout their marriage they raised their family together instilling Christian values, relaying the significance of treating others with kindness, and imparting the importance of diligence and hard work. She was a member of Hurd Merrill Eastern Star. As a young mother in the 50’s mom began working as a secretary in the transportation department at the Livingston Parish School Board and retired in 1988 after 33 years of service. She loved her children and grandchildren fiercely. Some of our fondest memories are of Sunday dinners and holiday celebrations. Mom would cook enough food for an army; she never wanted anyone to go away hungry, and we didn’t. She made the best biscuits, fried chicken, and pies! She also was an avid quilter. She hand-pieced and quilted dozens of quilts until her eyes began to fail her. Quilting brought mom much joy, and she passed on her quilted creations to her beloved family. Visitation will be at Magnolia Baptist Church, Holden, on Friday, October 28 th beginning at 8:00 a.m. followed by religious services at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Rev. Richard Wallace, Rev. Jarrod Hegwood, and Rev. Russell Hinson. Interment in the Sibley Family Cemetery, Walker. I am so sorry for the loss of Ms.Trecy.. I loved this very kind soul. My fondest memories are when me and Pappy would go over their house and barbeque after Pappy and Mr. Kerney would pen cows. We then would go to Sibleys haybarn in Walker and dance the night away with them and Mr.Truett and his wife. Pappy thought Mr.Kerney hung the moon. Prayers for the family!!!
