November 10, 2022by SealeUser11

Robert Dale Smith passed into eternal life on November 9th , 2022 surrounded by his loving and devoted wife, Julie Schroer Smith, family and many friends, after a courageous 9-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on August 7, 1964, in New Orleans, LA to Everett Smith (Sherry) and Olga Spreen Smith (who preceded him in death) and his adoring Sister, Donna Smith Adams (Peter). He Graduated from Archbishop Shaw High School in 1983 and later Louisiana Tech University where he was a member of the football and powerlifting teams. Robert had an abundance of close family and a wealth of true friends. His absolute greatest joy was the love and pride that he had in his 3 children, Catherine Smith Morse (Evan), Becca “Boo” Smith and Christopher Smith. Robert was always the life of every party and will always be remembered for his incredible sense of humor, zero inhibitions, and the talent and knowledge to fix anything mechanical. He loved repairing vintage trucks and used his immense talents to own and operate Preferred Home Renovations. Along with his many skill sets, he was also a professional pilot for 12 years and had a total of 8,000 hours in flight time. Robert had many gifts and loved to help anyone in need and always enjoyed hosting large parties especially the numerous crawfish boils that he would host in his dream barn on his property in Denham Springs. His extended family includes Stepdaughter Katelynn Henschen Mcdougall (Evan), “Uncle” Ernie Spreen, “Auntie” Pat Spreen, cousins Ernie, Brian and Aubrey Spreen, niece Oliva and nephew Alister. His light will forever shine, and he will never be forgotten by all who knew him and loved him. Services will be held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on Saturday November 12, 2022 from 1:00 PM-4:00 PM with a service at 4:00 PM followed by a Robert style gathering at his home in Denham Springs. Speakers will be his children, Ernie Spreen, Jimmy Hintz, Sean Hintz, Dana Rushing and Michael Coleman.

I was shocked to find out about Robert’s passing today while trying to contact old buddies during preparations for our 40th high school reunion. Robert and I were good friends during the high school years and my most memorable experience with him was late one night outside a restaurant when some drunk guy suddenly started punching him. Robert pushed him just once and you would believe that a man could fly… the guy literally flew – hit the wall and that was the end of it. Robert was one of the most genetically gifted men that I ever knew, he could have played pro football if he had put his mind to it. Unfortunately, I moved far away, and time and distance came between us, but we are sure to meet up again after this life. Rest in peace my friend. Your family is in our prayers.

    Julie, Christopher, Catherine & Becca-
We are so heartbroken. Robert was a big bright light to so many -kind, goofy, fun, hard working, great friend/neighbor, loved family more than anything! We first met Robert when we lived in the Willows, would see him on our dog walks and because he was such a gregarious person, we became friends. He sure gave us a lot of good laugh and memories over the years. Rest In Peace Robert. Thanks for being you.
Prayers and deepest sympathy to his closest loved ones during this difficult time.

    Catherine, Becca and Christopher,

There are no words that can be said, nor any song song that will give comfort at this time. But your dad, Robert, was a force to be reckon with and he will never be forgotten. He was big, boisterous, caring and loving. The many times your family allowed me and Nathan to tag along to pick blueberries and your dad, grandad, Everett, and Sherry made us feel so welcome. We laughed and always had a great time was priceless. I can only imagine all the stories and loving memories your dad made with the 3 of you…I know it was more than enough to fill 3 life times.

This is not goodbye, it’s see you later dad, because I know he will forever be watching over you all. Your dad lived a full life, and most importantly, loved you guys with all his heart. Cherish that, and take all that love and share it always with one another.

I am praying for comfort and peace in this extremely difficult time.

Please grab each other and give each other a big, long hug from me and Nathan. Your dad was a very special man who will never be forgotten and will be deeply missed.

    Cheryl and Nathan Jay

We have moved to the Houston area, so we won’t be able to attend the services and show our respects, but please give our condolences to your entire family.
