“Once, there was a way to get back homeward

Once, there was a way to get back home
Sleep, pretty darling, do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby

Golden slumbers fill your eyes
Smiles awake you when you rise
Sleep, pretty darling, do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby” —

Golden Slumbers by The Beatles

Judith Dale McClure Hopkins, 73, of Denham Springs, LA, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Baton Rouge. Judy was born June 14, 1949, in Jonesville and was a longtime resident of Watson. She attended Baton Rouge High School and spent many years working for the state before retiring from LSU in 2013.

Judy’s favorite things were her family, her Tigers, and her music. She was a fiery redhead and a passionate LSU fan who could be heard for miles around cheering on the Tigers in any season and any sport. She loved good music -The Beatles, Janis Joplin, and The Eagles to name a few- and played a mean tambourine during family jam sessions. She was the “beautiful wife” of her doting husband of 46 years, Frank Hopkins; the proud mama of three children, Jason Davis of Denham Springs, Dustin Hopkins (Allie) of Gretna, NE, and Erin Broussard (Aaron) of Denham Springs; a loving grandma to eight beautiful grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and a cherished sister to Jana Whitley of Baton Rouge. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas McClure and Frances Greene and her brother, Tommy McClure.

A celebration of Judy’s life will be held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on Sunday, December 11, 2022, beginning at 10 a.m. A memorial service conducted by Bro. Paul Jones will begin at 11 a.m.

Oh, if I could have seen Judy again. She was a person I really enjoyed to be around and I know how a great a wife was was to my nephew. My condolences to Frankie, her children, grandchildren and her family.

Sorry to read this. Judy shared her redheaded Fiestiness and grit. We shared our common disdain for specific individuals and reveled in it. Be at peace.
