September 12, 1956 ~ December 3, 2022

On December 3, 2022, Gwendalyn “Gwen” Stithem passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and loved ones. She was 66 years old and a long-time resident of Walker, Louisiana.

It would be wrong to say that Gwen lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined to spend time with her “babies” and her beloved English Bulldog, Winston. When anyone else would have broken, Gwen stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in Gwen. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight.

Gwen was predeceased by her parents Burnie Lee and Laura Louise Calcote, and husband Jimmy Joe Stithem. She is survived by her children Shawn Dewitt, Chris Stithem, Jaime Seymour and husband Chip, and Jimmy Stithem, 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Visiting will be held at Seale Funeral Home, 1720 S Range Ave Denham Springs, La. on December 8th from 11:00 am until services at 1:00 pm. Please join the family at Central Baptist Church, 17017 Florida Blvd Baton Rouge La. immediately following the services.

I hadn’t talked to her in a while and I wish I would have reached out to her when I had the chance. She was always very welcoming whenever her granddaughter and I would have play dates as kids. Aunt Gwen was truly a strong woman.

Gwen was such a good person. I loved her because she was like a mother to me even when we weren’t related anymore. You could always count on her telling you the truth (good or bad). Lol. She is loved and will be greatly missed 💕 praise God she’s with Jesus, Jim(Paw), and Grannie and PaPa. I love you❤️
