April 4, 1951 – March 6, 2023

Richard Ray Miller passed away on March 6, 2023 at his home in Baton Rouge. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, April 24 1951, and was a proud Texan. He lived most of his adult life in Houston, Texas. He graduated from the University of Houston and worked as a CPA and Internal Auditing Manager for the Oil & Gas Industry. In his youth, Richard was an Eagle Scout, an avid tennis player and participated in his school and church choirs. He carried a love for gospel music and hymns throughout his life, and was sometimes called upon to sing at weddings and funerals. He enjoyed watching all sports, including football, soccer, and even little league baseball. Richard was well-known for having a sharp wit that remained with him until his final hours. Richard was well traveled, visiting over 30 countries over the course of his career and after, and enjoyed recounting tales from those trips. He loved to dine at restaurants and was well-known amongst the staffs of everywhere he frequented from Houston to Baton Rouge. Many of those who served him have still held onto his signature $2 bill he always included in the tip. Although Richard was not a veteran himself, he was very patriotic and eager to support our troops. He is survived by his wife, Bernadette Vige, stepson Dylan Ferguson, two granddaughters Erin Ferguson and Kayla Ferguson, his sister Ellen Miller Thorsen of Kingwood, Texas, his father, Ray Miller, and niece Emily Thorsen Blair of Dallas, TX. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Miller of Corpus Christ, TX, and stepson, Dustin Ferguson, Walker LA. All family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service that will be held Tuesday March 14 at 10:30 am at Evergreen Memorial Park 1710 S Range Ave Denham Springs in the Love Urn Garden. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Beam’s Bible Ministry PO Box 10200 Gulfport, MS 39505.
