Heck, Margaret

November 3, 1928 – April 12, 2023

Margaret Price Heck entered eternal life at the age of 94 on Wednesday, April 12th, 2023.  Miggette, as she was known by family and friends, was born on November 3, 1928 in Baywood, Louisiana.  She and her late husband, Wallace, Sr were lifelong residents of Baton Rouge where they raised their four children, and ventured into entrepreneurship beginning in 1953. Miggette was quite a character, bold in spirit and never bashful with her thoughts.  She believed in hard work, loved her family fiercely and believed in taking care of those in need.  She and Wallace, Sr never shied away from a business opportunity beginning with Plumbing by Heck, Furniture by Heck, Drugs by Heck, Jewelry by Heck, All State Pawn, Heck Nursery, Clothing by Heck, All State Building Materials, Altex Ready Mix Concrete, All Steel, Better Electric, Better Heating & Air-conditioning and Heck Industries, to name a few.  There were also many agricultural and livestock ventures, the most noteworthy being Heck Farms.   After Wallace, Sr became very ill, Miggette gifted him a pair of thoroughbred brood mares.  A dream of his was to own race horses and by the time the two were finished building the state of the art facility on Greenwell Springs Rd, they owned 267 race horses.  They were quite a pair!  She was much more at home on a tractor, on a horse, or doing yard work rather than cleaning house.  She could make a sailor blush, and was just as direct and colorful in her zest for life.  As tough as she was on the outside, her heart was full of compassion.  She was always there for any family member in need.  She was an avid seamstress and enjoyed quilting, sewing and cooking with her sisters.   She was one of a kind and her quick wit and sass will be sorely missed, along with the cup of coffee she was always eager to share. Miggette is survived by three of her children, Wallace, Jr and wife Cristy, Raymond Heck, Janet Heck; grandchildren Heather Heck Smith (Scott), Melissa Heck Brown (Bill), Misty Heck Lyngaas (Jason), Lesa Pino, Ryan Eugene Heck( Loredana), Todd Pino, Lindsay Heck, Tiffany Heck, Lauren Heck Odom (Kyle), David Morgan (Brittany), Wallace Eugene “Tripp” Heck, III; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild;  sisters Clara Duncan, Dot Russell, Daisy Hoffman and Lena Dearman; half-sisters and brothers Virginia and Carol Mae Hicks,  Mary Margaret Olivier and Charlie, Louie, and Clarence Price.  She was preceded in death by her parents, James M. Price and Sara Ida Robbins Price Hannah; husband, Wallace Eugene Heck, Sr.; daughter Shirley Heck Morgan, great-granddaughters Sommer Heck-Lyngaas, Traycen Heck; sisters and brothers Willie Mae Baker, Marveleen Cheek, W.C., Monroe, Willard, Herbert and Edward Price; and half-brother Larry Price and half sisters Tressie Stiles and Sylvia Price. Visitation will be Sunday 10:00 am until service at 1:00 pm, Seale Funeral Home, 1720 S. Range Avenue, Denham Springs, LA.  Service will be officiated by Reverend Scott Cheatham.  Pallbearers will be Ryan Heck, Wallace “Tripp” Heck, III, Bryson Smith, Bailey Brown, Hayden Brown, Elliott LeBlanc, Dwayne Price, Robert Hoffman.  Honorary pallbearers are Todd Pino and David Morgan. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. https://www.stjude.org/donate. Condolences may be offered at www.sealefuneral.com

Billie Claire Phillips. I am so sorry to hear about Margaret’s passing. She was surely one of a kind and a truly caring person. I miss the good old days with Tom and Wallace and Margaret and the wonderful times we had. I am sorry that I cannot attend the service today but I don’t leave the house much as I am limited in my walking ability. Please let the family know that we are thinking about them. God bless.

Ms. Margaret was one of a kind, she was straight to the point and so kind at the same time. She could chew you out at one minute and love you to death the next. I met her as a child (Wallace Sr and my father Stanley Stevens were good friends), then I worked for Wallace building horse barns and whatever else he needed. Later on in life I introduced her to Steve and Diane Adcox. She took them under her loving wings and blessed their ministry greatly. One awesome lady that will be missed by many!

The Heck family is and always will be very special to me.. Wallace Heck (Brother) was my roomate at LSU I’n 1970. I had the pleasure of meeting all of his family including Margaret and Wallace senior. Knowing this family and the kindness they had for people was over whelming. Margaret made us breakfast a lot on Greenwell Springs road .
Mr Heck was on dialysis in his home and often thought back to him when I myself went on home dialysis and had Kidney transplant
.I enjoyed Mrs Margaret’s since of humor and wit and the entire family
Wallace Jr. I love you and family God Bless you all and May Margaret rest in peace,
