Lewis VanSickel (75) has passed away on April 29, 2023. He lived a storied life and had many tales of his years as a U.S. Marine, polygrapher, airplane pilot, scuba diver, Police Commissioner, his work for the Huntsville Space & Rocket Center, adventures in the outdoors, and special moments with his family. He also attended LSU. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marietta VanSickel. Those left to treasure his memories are his son Jason VanSickel (Julia); granddaughter Sophia; grandson Redding; brothers John VanSickel (Peggy); Dennis VanSickel (Sabrina); and sister Kris Nugent (Ernest), along with many cousins, relatives and friends. Lewis will be greatly missed. The family extends our thanks to his caregivers at the LA War Veterans Home in Jackson LA and also to their Honor Guard. Visitation will begin at 5pm on May 5th at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs LA, followed by the memorial service at 6pm. The interment will take place at a later date at the Port Hudson National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your church.

I am so glad the kids and I were finally able to meet you – even if only once just a few short years ago.
