November 13, 1964 – May 10, 2023

Gregory (Greg) Alan Gibson was born in Alexandria, LA on November 13, 1964.  Greg, a retired construction superintendent and life-long resident of Louisiana, died unexpectedly at the age of 58 on May 10, 2023 while recovering from a back surgery at a hospital in Baton Rouge, LA.  Greg was proceeded in death by his father, Donald Gibson, and his mother, Toby Mace.  Greg is survived by his wife of 35 years, Shannon Gibson, his mother-in-law Linda Gibson, his daughters Jamie Gibson and Amanda Toups (Husband: Kyle Toups), his grandchildren James and Emily Toups, his brother David Gibson, his sister Alex Short (Husband: Donald Short), and his nieces and nephews.

Greg’s father instilled in him a great love for the outdoors along with a love for the Lord, which he passed along to his children and grandchildren.  For the last two years of his life, Greg enjoyed his retirement while fulfilling his lifelong dream; living at his deer camp.  Greg spent every morning watching the sunrise over the water of the pond at his deer camp, and thoroughly enjoyed watching storms roll in from the comfort of his porch.  Greg was a man who loved deeply, fiercely guarded his family, and had a passion for his children’s hobbies.  Greg was a man of few words, but was also one who enjoyed long conversations.  He always stood firmly on what he believed and refused to retreat, even if he discovered the ground he stood on was quick sand.  Greg loved his wife dearly, as she loved himand stood by his side through the many twists and turns in their lives.  Greg is gone, but he will never be forgotten.

Greg’s services will be held on May 16, 2023 at Judson Baptist Church: 32470 Walker North Road Walker, LA 70785. In lieu of flowers, Greg’s family requests donations be made to Stillwaters Refuge of Hope online or in care of Judson Baptist Church.

Sincere condolences to your family. I am so very sorry for your loss. May God provide the necessary peace and comfort to your family and friends during this difficult time. Please remember these words of encouragement from the Bible: “ Jesus plainly told her: “I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.” —John 11:20-25 jw.org

I was devastated and shocked to hear of my brother’s passing. Greg was always known as the lovable, funny one of us three. He loved to laugh.
When we were kids, I can remember him holding my hand and warning me of dangers that lie ahead. In short, he was always there for me.
Looking back, I will always remember him for that.
And into his adult life meeting and marrying one of the best people I’ve ever met in Shannon. Raising 2 girls together, they’re beyond lovely. And now 2 beautiful grandchildren. What a wonderful life him and Shannon had together.
So as we say goodbye as we must, I will remember my brother for many things, hunting, fishing, basketball, but most of all for the wonderful family he built that we’re all left with. And the LOVE.
I love you, Greg, always have, always will. See you soon, before you know it.
    Love you.

Greg is a man who has always shows respect to others, it doesn’t matter if its a waitress, a hardware store clerk or even a distant brother-in law like me, he treats us all with the same thing— (Love).

He has always been an inspiration to me on how to treat people, I will miss him for the rest of my life, but bye just knowing him he made he made me a better person!!!

His humor, laughter and even his miss-behaved nature when funning was always a blast!!! Not to mention he has a couple of great girls, a wonderful son in-law, 2 very special grandchildren, a mother in-law or who has always had is back and most importantly a incredible wife!!!

Shannon has been his rock through thick and thin, these are all great people and are nothing more than a great extension of his life’s work!!!

Your sister Alex has always loved you from the day I met her until the day you left.

Greg go be with God, we will see you soon.

I will miss you my friend!!
