John Charles Ransom, 57, of Denham Springs, LA, passed away Monday, May 22, 2023.  He was born on December 17, 1965 in Baltimore, MD to Margueritte Lane Denny Ransom and James Russell Ransom.  John and his mother moved to Jackson, MS when he was a young child.  He grew up in the Belhaven neighborhood of Jackson, attending First Presbyterian Elementary School and graduating from Woodland Hills Baptist Academy.   He earned a Bachelor of Art degree in Finance from The University of Southern Mississippi.  He was a member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity.

 

After living and working in Ocala, FL and Charlotte, NC, John moved to
Denham Springs, LA in 2017 when he accepted a new job.  John most recently worked as Division Controller at D.R. Horton.  He loved the work environment and his co-workers, whom he considered family.   He was respected as a hard worker.  Even toward the end of his illness when he was not feeling well, he would be the first person in the office.

He was a member of Open Door Baptist church, where he also had many friends that loved him and considered him family.

John was a loving son, loving relative and family member, and respected co-worker to many.  He will be remembered for his kindness and gentle nature, his sense of humor, his strong work-ethic and his love of Star Wars and Nascar.  He loved to cook gumbo and fried turkey with friends and family.  He also had a big heart for his dog, Pablo.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margueritte and both sets of grandparents. He is survived by his father, Jim Ransom.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Open Door Baptist Church in Denham Springs, LA at 10:00 a.m. (visitation starting at 9:00) on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.  Family burial will take place at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS on Thursday, June 8, 2023.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Open Door Baptist Church or to your favorite charity.     Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends. Kent’s Plumbing wants to offer our deepest condolences on John’s passing. He was an instrumental part of the team, and he will be greatly missed.
