Joseph “Joe” Lee Garrett

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Joseph (Joe) Lee Garrett on June 26, 2023, a loving and devoted husband and father. Joe was friend to all whose lives he touched. He put up a courageous fight out of love for his family. Joe made sure during his final days to express how much he loved his wife, Norma, of 63 years, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. His last words to his family were “I love you and will be watching over you.” Joe was from a large family and was known to be the favorite cousin, uncle, and brother.

Joe was born on May 24, 1941 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and was a resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana.

Joe was an avid sports fan. He especially loved his LSU Tigers.  We are certain he made a stop in Omaha on his way to heaven to cheer on his Tigers.  Joe coached little league football for many years and is still referred to by many as Coach Joe.  Joe enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to music on the patio, fishing, and going to the casino.  Joe had a long career in HVAC work before retirement.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Norma Garrett, his children, Debbie Unbehagen, Pat Garrett (Laura), Sherry Flanagan (Richard), and Stephanie Gautreaux, his grandchildren, Garrett, Kayla, JC, Brooke, Devin and Lauren, and his great-grandchildren, Kaden, Samuel, and Adalynn (sweet pea), and his brother Henry Garrett.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, James Clinton Garrett and Eugenia Gomez Garrett, his brothers, Levi, Lawrence, Amos, Donnie, and his sisters, Leanna, Alsie, Elaine, and Lizzie.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 30 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Seale Funeral Home Funeral, 1720 S Range Avenue, Denham Springs, Louisiana. Services will follow at 1:00 pm. There will be no graveside service.

Family & friends are invited to attend a celebration of life following the services at 14004 Colt Drive, Denham Springs, Louisiana.

Flowers or donations to the Cancer Society of Baton Rouge https://cancerservices.org/donate/ or St. Joseph Hospice Foundation https://www.stjosephhospicefoundation.org/donations.php are welcome.

I will always remember my uncle Joe growing up. He always went fishing with us and of course crawfishing. We always competed on catching the biggest fish. He was always so handsome and escorted my sister on her homecoming night, to the delight of all the young girls. We know we will see him again, healthy and in no pain.
