Nancy “Nana” Stephens Noto born in Baton Rouge and a resident of Denham Springs passed away July 5, 2023 at the age of 78. Nancy was a graduate of Central High School and attended LSU. She had a long fulfilling career at the Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal, retiring as chief deputy clerk of court at age 50. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a special affection for cats and enjoyed taking care of her kitties as well as her dogs. Nancy was a warm, caring, and gracious Christian whose door was always open. She was most happy when serving coffee and desserts to her friends and family. Nancy’s kind spirit was a gift that will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children Gary A. James Jr., Katrina James McDowell(Tobias), step daughters Donna Ballard(Jody), Charlotte Schilling(Hilton), Leanne Noto(Daniel) and Sammi Forbes(Jared) as well as step sons Larry Noto and Sam Noto II(Pat), Grandchildren Jordan James(Sydney), Mason McDowell, Owen McDowell and 25 step grandchildren, sibling Gene Stephens, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Sam L Noto, siblings George Stephens, Edna Mae Buras, Margaret Scallan, baby Mitchell Stephens, sisters-in-law Margaret Stephens, JoAnn Stephens and her parents George and Edna Metz Stephens. Heartfelt thanks to Pam Bolling, whose friendship, patience and care were a true blessing. Also, the Hospice of Baton Rouge, whose compassion and care in the final stage of her life was indispensable. Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on Saturday July 22, 2023 from 9AM -10AM with service at 10 AM.
