Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.  James 1:12

Denise Edwards Jones was born in Baton Rouge to Harold and Juanita Edwards on November 15, 1951 and passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 17, 2023 at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge.

She grew up in North Baton Rouge and attended elementary school and Istrouma Jr. High there where she made and maintained life long friends, then attended Baton Rouge High School and after graduating in 1969 she attended LSU and LSUNO.  Denise had an artistic flare and was very creative, she was also endlessly kind and saw the best in people.

She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Calvin Jones, her boys, whom she was so proud of, Ian Ritchie (Meagan), and Hayden Ritchie; the lights of her life, her granddaughters Isabella, Lily and Harper; her sisters Diane Laird (Richard), Daryl Walker (Mike) and brother Scott Edwards; as well as, many nieces, nephews and cousins that will miss her deeply.  She is predeceased by her parents and brother Mark Edwards.

Her family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Hospice, The Carpenter House and Heart of Hospice for their care and support. We would like to also thank her friends, Linda Davis Cook, Ginger Hays Butler and Don Hunter for being there through her final journey and sharing their love and support to her.

At Denise’s request, there will be a private memorial at a later date.
