January 3, 1949 ~ August 5, 2023

Michael Allen Watson, age 74, entered into the arms of Jesus on August 5, 2023.  He was born on January 3, 1949 in Baton Rouge, La.  He grew up in Denham Springs, La and was a Baptist by faith.  He was married to the love of his life, his high school sweetheart Claire for 55 years before her passing in 2021.  Together they had two daughters who they loved and adored.  At a high school reunion he was given the award for being the youngest father of their class.  This said a lot about his character and integrity, being a hard-working man providing for a family at such a young age.   He worked as a pipefitter by trade, and he loved fishing and cars in his younger years.  He also enjoyed bowling and most of all spending time with his 2 grandsons and his dogs Sam and Lucy and grand dog Tucker.  He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

He is survived by daughter Cathy Sumrall and husband James, daughter Cynthia Watson, his two grandsons Justin (and fiancé Nicole Whitehead) and Ian Sumrall; his adoring sister Aline Sanchez, his nephews and their spouses Ricky and Melissa Sanchez, Rusty and Melinda Sanchez, Randy Sanchez, Robby Sanchez and their children and grandchildren; his cousin and best friend Jimmy Summers, sister in laws Stella Corley and Barbara Chandler, and very special friends Eva and Joe Courtney, Amber Font, Rudy Chandler, Gordon and Wanda Shepherd, Herman Walker Jr, Herman Walker III, his Turner family, and many others.  He is preceded in death by his loving wife Claire Watson, his parents Allen and Merle Watson, sister Shirley Watson, brother-in-law Cloyce Sanchez (who he called one of the greatest men he ever knew), in-laws Allie ‘Gwen’ Montgomery, and Sidney Montgomery.

There will be a wake at Seale Funeral home in Denham Springs on Thursday, August 10th from 10:00 – 12:00 followed with a small service by Reverend Merelin McCon and burial at Seale Funeral Home Evergreen Memorial Park.   Pall bearers will be Justin Sumrall, Ian Sumrall, Ricky Sanchez, Rusty Sanchez, Robby Sanchez, Cody Sanchez and Randy Sanchez (honorary).

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Doctors, nurses and Palliative team at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital TNCC unit as well as Austin Pease for his love and support during this time.
