Suzanne Suhrke passed away surrounded by her loved ones at her home on
Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at the age of 72. Suzanne was born in Akron, OH, and
grew up in Lynchburg, VA. She was a graduate of Lynchburg College and worked
as a teacher, eventually obtaining a Master’s degree in Special Education. She
ultimately settled in Baton Rouge, LA, with her husband, Ken, where she
continued her teaching. She had a passion for life and lived one that was full of joy
and love. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend to many and will be
greatly missed. Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dorothy
Armstrong of Lynchburg, VA, and her loving husband of 40 years, Kenneth
Suhrke. She is survived by her daughter, Kara Simpson of Metairie, LA, and sisters
Rebecca Armstrong of Winston-Salem, NC, and Cynthia Raymond of Wilmington,
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Seale Funeral Home in
Denham Springs, LA, at 5:00 pm with a memorial to follow at 7:00 pm. In lieu of
flowers, Suzanne wish was that donations be made in her remembrance to The
Sister Dulce Foundation, 17560 George O’Neal Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70817,

Kara, I am so sorry to hear this. Your mother and father were so good to me during the years that I spent time with them. They were second parents to me and had a special place in my heart. Please know you have my heart felt condolences.
