Robert (Bob) Arlen Swanson of Baton Rouge, LA passed away peacefully on August 12, 2023 after a lengthy illness.
Bob was born in Minnesota in 1935 and moved to Denver, Colorado with his family in 1949. He spent the majority of his career at Martin Marietta, working in various parts of the country. Bob loved golf, playing cribbage and hosting family get togethers. He also enjoyed outdoor grilling, Dixieland jazz, and was an avid reader.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Emilia Swanson, his daughter Kristen and his brother James Swanson. He is survived by his wife Cynthia Swanson of 48 years, daughter Kathy and husband Charles Allen of Lakewood, Colorado, daughter Sue Swanson of Englewood Colorado, son Tyson and wife Patty Swanson of Slidell, Louisiana, and daughter Stephanie and husband Dane Falterman of Prairieville, Louisiana. Bob was a proud grandfather to Raymon Allen, Kris Wahlke, Jessica Hamilton, Brett Clayton-Taylor, Caleb Swanson, Ian Swanson, Dylan Falterman and Peyton Falterman.
Bob’s life will be celebrated on September 9, 2023 at Broadmoor United Methodist Church, 10230 Mollylea Drive, Baton Rouge. The visitation will be at 1:00 PM, a memorial service will be 2:00 PM followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association or consider supporting your local blood bank by donating blood to help those in need of blood products.
