Ethel Rita (Martinez) Morris, 96, of Livingston Louisiana, retired from retail sales, died Friday, October 6, 2023, at The Carpenter House in Baton, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born on December 29, 1926 in White Castle, Louisiana to Adam and Lucille Martinez. She has lived in White Castle, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and then Livingston.

During her working career she worked in retail sales, and was a buyer for the DH Holmes company. She was very involved with the local churches and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She enjoyed reading and spending time in her flower bed.

She is survived by her son, Wayne Morris, daughter in-law Donna Severio, sister Mildred (Doddie) Bourg, and numerous nieces and nephews, and special family friend Rita Lopinto.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Willie J (Ted) Morris. Parents; Adam Martinez Sr and Lucille Martinez. Brothers; Adam (Brother) Martinez Jr, Raymond (Curley) Martinez, Louis Spragio. Sisters; Isabelle (Bell) Kling, Janice Smith, Shirley McNemar, and Evelyn (Bud) Barnet.

Visitation will be a Seale’s funeral home in Livingston, Louisiana on Monday, October 9th from 10:00am until 2:00pm, followed by burial at the Old Red Oak cemetery.

The family would like to thank Harvest Mannor nursing home for giving Ethel such great care during her final years, and would like to thank The Carpender House for the great care during her last days.

    Thank maw maw Ethel for all the kind and loving words all nice big warm hugs and kisses and the warm welcoming that you always were there to give I know you belong to brother Wayne and sister Donna but o im am so very honered y’all allowed yourselves to share her with me it was a awesome ,wonderful, longest experience I’ll never forget God bless you Mrs ,Mom, maw maw ,Ethel im.gonna miss you to much so very much I love you untill i see you again take all that love warmth and careing to the needie up there in heaven with you but save some for me for when I get there I love u

    Ms. Ethel was a lovely person, she will be missed but not forgotten. My prayers are with the family.
