William “Billy” Peak, a native of Walker, LA, passed away on December 1, 2023 at the age of 84.  Billy was a 1957 graduate of Walker High School and became an iron worker.  This trade he worked for over 30 years. He is survived by his daughter, Holly “Scooter” Peak LeBouef, as well as numerous cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Peak and Audrey Peak Hood, and son-in-law, Dwain LeBouef.  Billy’s life was well lived and he leaves behind a story for a lot of people to tell.  First and foremost, he was a true cowboy.  Whether capturing a calf roping championship or judging a rodeo, he traveled the circuit becoming one of the many “old timers” who helped pave the road of growth for the sport of rodeo in Louisiana.  Though he was a whiskey drinking hell-raiser, we all knew he wouldn’t hesitate to protect his family and friends.  He lived the cowboy life each and every day. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service remembering Billy which will be held Monday, December 4th, 2023 at 11:00am at Minton Cemetery ( 29010 Walker South Road) in Walker, LA.  Pallbearers are Tombo Peak, Andy Peak, Tim Peak, Clyne Peak III, Spencer Coburn, and Tony Wilkinson. It’s time to lay down your rope Billy. In the words of George Strait, “This is where the cowboy rides away. “
