It is with profound sadness that we announce the going home of our precious husband, father, and Pappa. He was also a wonderful brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. He spoke many times of the joy that awaits us in Heaven and we know he is finally experiencing that joy with the Lord and those that have gone before him. There are no words to explain just how much his family loved him, but we rest in the promise that we will be together again someday. Ellis Joseph Bowling, age 71, passed away on March 21, 2024. Joe graduated from Holden High School, class of 1971, and served in Vietnam in the U.S. Navy. Joe worked as as a Journeyman Electrician, and retired from D.O.T.D. He was a longtime member of Doyle Bible Baptist Church (Holden, LA), and he was a recent attendee of Open Door Baptist Church (Denham Springs, LA). Joe is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shelly Bowling; son, Steven Bowling (Amber); grandchildren, Evangeline Bowling, Sabine Bowling, Deacon Bowling; sister, Robyn Bowling, brothers, Randy Camp (Mary), Elbert Bowling. Joe is preceded in death by his father, Lee Bowling; mother, Francis Bowling; sister, Kathy Bowling. Pallbearers will be: Joshua Jones, Trampas Ballard, Steve Severson, Mike Vidrene, Lee Navarre, Timothy Allen. A visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home in Livingston on March 26, 2024 from 9:00 am – 11:00am with a funeral service to begin at 11:00 am. Burial will immediately follow at Stafford Cemetery in Holden, LA.

    Shelly, Steven and Family,
No words can express how sorry I am for your loss. One of the greatest promises of the Bible is the last one Jesus gave – after his resurrection and prior to his return to heaven. “Be sure of this, he told his disciples. “I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). I pray that you feel his presence as you grieve the loss of Joe. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Shelly, we’re so very sorry to learn that Joe has passed. We both had doctor’s appointments this morning so were unable to attend the service but we will be in prayer for you and the family.
    Love, TL and Delores
