Charles F. Crowder, born April 11, 1938, in Glenmora, LA, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the age of 86.  He was a resident of Ponchatoula, LA, and before that, a long-time resident of Holden, LA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Crowder and Opal Roberts Crowder.

Charles was a veteran of the United States Navy, retiring after 20 years of service.  Upon his retirement from service, he worked as a welder, a postal employee, a poultry farmer and as a civil servant for the State of Louisiana.  He was an avid musician and loved country music from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, and enjoyed watching Westerns on television.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary O’Neill Crowder, also of Ponchatoula; his son, David W. Crowder, of Cape Coral, FL; his daughters, Cheryl Crowder Rials, of Baton Rouge, LA; Debbie Crowder Loper, also of Baton Rouge, LA, and Sandra (Sandi) Crowder, of Ponchatoula, LA.  He is also survived by his brothers J.B Crowder, of Oakdale, LA, Owen Crowder, of Glenmora, LA, and his sister, Mickie Crowder Maier, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.  He is also survived by his grandsons Travis Rials, Jacob Crowell, and Jeremy Crowell, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, on Thursday, April 18th, beginning at 5:00 PM, and Rev. Paul Jones will conduct funeral services at 7:00 PM with military funeral honors.  A graveside committal service will be held at the Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary, LA, at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 19, 2024.

The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of North Oaks Hospital.  We would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Rab, Dr. Thaya, and the entire staff of Richard Murphy Hospice House.

    Sincere condolences at the passing of Mr. Crowder to his family. I worked with him in Baton Rouge at USPS. I later connected with him in Holden, LA as I worked in the Holden Post Office.
