March  3, 1946 ~ April 28, 2024

Cherryl G. Headley affectionately known as “Cheri”, passed away on April 28, 2024, in Denham Springs, LA. She was born to Zylpha and Leon Gurney March 3, 1946, in Baton Rouge, LA. After graduating from Istrouma High School in 1965. She stepped into her role as a working mother, in various fields, such as shoe sales, secretary with the Colorado Department of Highways, bartender, bookbinding, medical receptionist/ transcriber in both Colorado and Louisiana, and a Walmart cashier, Ascension parish until the age of 70. She is survived by her first husband, John Spence, of Littleton, Colorado and their children, Tammy (Robert) Geromini, of Prairieville, LA  and  Jason  Spence, wife, Angela of Colorado Springs,  CO. Her four grandchildren, Dylan Geromini, Nathan Spence,  Devin Geromini, wife, Leah and Kaitlyn Spence will carry on her legacy of kindness and joy. Her brother,  Ronald Gurney and three nephews, Nathan, Derek and Aaron, of South Carolina. Cheri was a loving mother, sister, and “very best friend” to many people who walked with her in life. Known for her bright smiles and kind heart, her life’s passion was to encourage others and help them feel happy. She loved to share her funny life stories, especially  about fishing with her daddy along the bayous. Fishing, was her hobby of choice. She always kept her fishing gear, in the trunk of her car, “just in case she came across a good fishing hole.” Cheri never missed an opportunity to dance, being the first and last on the dance floor or just doing a little jig while housecleaning to the music of ZZ Top. Cheri will be remembered for her happy spirit and kind heart. She was everybody’s best friend and will be dearly missed. At her request, no services will be held, but she made it known that, she wanted us all to share a laugh and raise a glass in celebration of her journey home. Her Facebook Page will remain open and all are welcome to post memories and final words to her. Her family invites you to celebrate Cheri’s life by donating to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund, jdrf.org.
