January 15, 1939 ~ June 26, 2024

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”  2 Timothy 4:7.

James Farley Baroni, Sr., 85, went home to his Lord and Savior on June 26, 2024.  He was born to Edward and Daisy Baroni in Natchez, MS, on January 15, 1939.  He proudly served in the Mississippi National Guard before being honorably discharged and later marrying the love of his life, Betty Marie Foster Baroni. They raised three children in Natchez, MS, before moving to Baton Rouge, LA in 1970. James started his career as a young boy in the grocery business bagging groceries and stocking shelves.  He had a strong work ethic and took pride in providing great customer service and maintaining a clean and orderly store.  He later moved up the ranks to various levels of management and retired from A&P and Kroger.  Although, the greatest title he ever held was being promoted to a grandfather and becoming affectionately known as Poppa.  He later had a second career working at Harbor Freight for over a decade while residing in Watson, LA.

James was an extremely hardworking and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.  When he was not working to provide for his family, or caring for his cherished pets, his greatest hobby was working in the yard with his wife. They were often awarded the neighborhood Yard-of-the-Month for their love of gardening and attention to detail.  Their self-manicured landscaping was admired by many.

James is survived by his three children, James (Jimmy) Farley Baroni, Jr., Traci Denise Baroni, and Teri Lynn Baroni; four grandchildren, including his beloved granddaughter and caregiver, Brittani Adams Davis and her husband Lance Davis, Amanda Baroni Saccaro, Austin James Baroni, and Blake Landon Baroni; great-grandson Asher Blair Saccaro; siblings Paul Baroni and Polly Baroni Hoggatt; as well as nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Foster Baroni, parents Edward and Daisy Baroni, siblings Edward J. (Buddy) Baroni and Louise Baroni.

A special thank you to the administrative staff and nursing team at Golden Age Healthcare in Denham Springs and Life Source Hospice of Baton Rouge for the love and care provided. A graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez, MS on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Please sign the online guestbook at www.sealefuneral.com

My dear, sweet, Poppa. I miss you so very much. I take comfort that you are no longer in pain nor feeling the loneliness that you so often felt over the last decade. I know you are in the arms of our Heavenly Father and walking the streets of gold. You and Nanny are finally reunited; I know how much you’ve missed her. I’m leaning on all of our wonderful memories from you taking me on bike rides when I was a little girl to celebrating your 80th birthday at our house, and everything in-between. You were such a man of honor, integrity, strength, and truth. You worked so hard for our family, and taught me what it meant to be a dedicated and hard-working employee. I already miss our weekend visits and trips to Chick-fil-A, shopping at Walmart, filling your cabinets with Nutty Buddys and mints, and fixing you a cup of COFFEE!! Oh how you loved your coffee!! There is such a void in my heart….but Lance gave me a great idea. I’m passing the love and traditions that you shared with me to our grandchildren. We’re going to continue spending time with them and share the love and joy that you so loving shared with me. Your graveside service was beautiful and I know you would have been proud. Until we meet again, I’ll love you for always. With all of my love, Britt

I was Jim and Betty Baroni’s neighbor for years in Watson, LA. I became good friends with him after the passing of his wife, whom he loved and cherished deeply. Jim was a man of good character…filled with honesty and integrity and humility. We could use many more like him. The loss of his dear wife took it’s toll on him, as well as other unexpected and hard circumstances that occurred after her passing which were beyond his control. He was a dear friend that I will certainly miss. Knowing he is now with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ gives me great joy! Both he and Betty are together again, and will be rejoicing forever! Sincerely, Rodney Lee

I worked at A&P with Jim in the 80’s. Jim always had a smile and was a hard worker and did a good job as a manager. I pray that his soul will rest in peace.

I remember you Mr Vincent. I’m Traci, my Daddy’s oldest daughter. Thank you so kindly for your condolences. Daddy’s family most certainly appreciates your love and prayers. No doubt, my Daddy is in the arms of our Messiah Saviour. My Daddy was a fighter and he fought the good fight of faith even until the end. Forever my Daddy will be with our LORD.

My Precious Daddy, my Beloved Precious Daddy, awe how I love and miss you!!! As I prayed for our LORD to take you home so you would no longer suffer on this earth to forever be with HIM, my heart broke into a million pieces. I rejoiced the day you finally saw the face of our Messiah Saviour, although my heart is grieving and heavy burdened. You were my Hero, the man who encouraged me to be a fighter, an overcomer despite life’s circumstances. You so unselfishly gave me your blessings to leave the state after the flood to take care of my son and myself, with me trusting and believing you were still guiding me in the right way to go. I now realize I am so much like you, my Daddy, and the fight in me came from watching you as you lived by example and taught me the way of truth, honor and integrity. You were the most gentle, kindhearted, humble, loving, respectful, honest, forgiving, hardworking, GOD-fearing man I have ever known. I am so thankful GOD chose you to be my Daddy. I cherish a lifetime of awesome memories you and I made together along with beautiful precious memories we made with my two beautiful children. You never left my side through the birth of my two beautiful babies as they blessed you as their “Poppa”. Awe how proud you were to be the first to hold them. The love that shown from your face as you stared in their precious innocent eyes. It was unconditional love at first sight!! Thank you, my Daddy for being the BEST Daddy and the BESTEST Poppa to my beautiful children!! You were the most proud “Poppa” and no doubt my babies know how much you loved them and surely you knew how much we all loved you. Despite the choices made 8 years ago (GOD knoweth) that affected your life tremendously, you chose to keep the fight to live and to endure each day in faith. I am so proud of you, my Daddy!!! I will forever remember you always encouraging me that we must keep going each day regardless of our situations. You were an example and witness to so many of the true meaning of keeping the faith and enduring the race. Surely you have heard the almighty words, “Welcome in my good and faithful servant”!! Soon, my Daddy, I will be reunited with you and we shall rejoice together as we forever will be with our LORD. Awe what a glorious day it will be!! I love you, my Daddy and I am so proud that I am your daughter!! Forever you will be with me as I will always LOVE YOU “THE MOSTEST”!!! Rest in peace, my Daddy, until I see you again!!! AMEIN and GLORY HalleluYAH!!!
Forever and always my love for you, your daughter,
    Traci Denise Baroni

I am so saddened to see this. My dad, John King, worked with him for many years and always spoke very highly of Mr. Baroni. I met Mr. Baroni at my dad’s funeral in 1987.
Prayers for all of his family and friends to find the much needed peace and comfort during this time of such sadness.
