April 22, 2025by SealeUser8

Rory Christopher Craft, of Baton Rouge, born January 27, 2002, left us suddenly on April 19, 2025. A young man of many talents, he brought joy and laughter to everyone he knew. His untimely departure has left a void in our hearts that cannot be filled.

Rory is survived by his father, Jonathan Craft, stepmother, Elizabeth Craft, his brother, Kevin, and his sisters, Katie and Piper. His memory will be cherished by his grandparents: Dale and Joan Craft, Dawn Stockwell, Graham Atkins and Debra Hopps, and many aunts, uncles and cousins that will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his mother, Melissa Atkins Hanks.

Rory graduated from Walker High School in 2021. His love for art, especially dragon-inspired pieces and anime, reflected his unique perspective of the world. His free time was spent fishing, a testament to his patience and competitive nature, or playing video games, reflecting his love for virtual adventure and strategy. He enjoyed teaching himself his favorite songs on the piano and playing Magic: The Gathering with friends.

A celebration of Rory’s life will be held on April 26, 2025, from 1-4 pm at Abundant Life Church, 206 Edgewood Drive, in Denham Springs. In honor of Rory’s laid-back spirit, guests are encouraged to dress casually.

We will remember Rory for his love, his devotion to family and his unique way of making each day more vibrant than the one before. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.

I am so sorry to hear about Rory’s passing. I was Rory’s high school bus driver for several years. Rory was a very special young man. He was one of the few students that would share his life with me and ask for advice. He always greeted me every morning and was sure to say bye when he got off the bus in the afternoons. Many days he would be waiting at my bus in the morning when I got there just to be the first to get on. He was always eager to share what was going on in his life. He will forever hold a special place in my heart. Rest in peace, Rory. May you fly high with the angels.

    Rory and family,

I am deeply saddened to hear of this news. While I have not seen him in years, Rory was a great childhood friend, and I know we would’ve been great friends today.

Rest in peace Rory, and I pray your family finds the peace they need.
