To the family, my most sincere condolences on your loss of Ms. Valerie. I’ve known Valerie since she began her career with Blue Cross in the late 90’s. I’ve spoken with Valerie on occasion’s concerning insurance matters, she was always knowledgeable and if she didn’t immediately know the answer to a question, she was quick to get an answer! She was a “cut-up” to talk with on the telephone. She will be very much missed by all who knew her. Go rest high on that mountain Ms. Valerie… May God comfort and lift up the family today and the days to come.

Even though I did not know Valerie on a personal level, I will miss her so much. Over the past 17 years working with her through LSA, she was always happy to help, easy to talk to and could/would explain the same thing over and over to me without getting mad at me. Now, I am sure when she hung up the phone she let me have it. LOL 🙂 But never did she show it to me, well except in the sweet but harsh “Really Jenny, you should know this.” then she would say “Nah, I’m just kidding, I can’t expect you to know everything that I do. Hell, I have been doing this my whole life.”
AND THAT IS WHY I I LOVED VALERIE. She was raw, honest and lovingly spot on no matter who she was dealing with. Over the past few years, I have changed rolls and have not had much contat with Valerie. However, we were able to catch up a couple of months ago, when I had yet another question that I knew only she could answer, becasue she knew everything about our policy, EVERYTHING.
I was so happy we were able to catch up. She told me how proud she was of her new grandbaby and that she was spending as much time with her as she could. I know she will be miss by everyone. My thoughts and prayers are with her daughter and her family during this difficult time.
I will miss you Valerie, you were the BEST!!!!!!!!!!

Val always made me feel welcome. No matter the season of life, her door was open, and her presence was steady. During my visits to Louisiana over the years, she offered warmth, wisdom, and a safe space to talk and be myself.

She never judged me for my past. Instead, she celebrated my accomplishments and reminded me how far I had come. During difficult times—especially when things were complicated with family—she showed up with calm understanding and practical advice. Every visit included long conversations, open ears, and encouragement without conditions.

Val created an environment where people felt seen, valued, and supported. Her kindness and honesty left a lasting impact, and her presence will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.

    Jordan, Beverly, Phillis and family,
I am so very sorry to learn that Valerie went home. As a BCLA former employee, like Phillis, she was old school and believed in doing things right. She was someone I admired for many reasons. I will treasure our memories, work, softball w Bev, a group Mardi Gras snow skiing trip (she liked the lodge the best), Mamacitas and of course Cadillac’s. May God surround you with his presence today & always.
