November 18, 1955 ~ February 9, 2023
Michael Edwin Still, Sr., 68, of Livingston Parish, passed away on February 9, 2023 after battling end-stage renal failure and heart failure.
Mike was born on November 18, 1955 in Columbus, Georgia, to Harold and Martha Still. After Mike graduated from East Jefferson High School in 1974, he went on to follow in his dad’s footsteps and became a mason. He proudly contributed to building up the Baton Rouge and New Orleans area. Later in his career, he became a truck driver on “the highway of love,” as he called it.
Mike married Melody Smith and went on to have 4 children together; Amy Still Porche, Scott Smith, Michael Edwin Still, Jr., and Kaitlyn Still Guzzardo. After 35 years of marriage, Mike and Melody ended their marriage and remained friends and a powerful parent duo to their children for the rest of their days.
When Mike and Tara married on March 2, 2013, he became a proud and loving father to Tara’s children, Jacob Givens and D’Shae Mineo.
Mike had a profound love for the outdoors. You could find him in the mountains, fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, and spelunking. He enjoyed adventures and was always looking for his next one. He was a 6th degree black belt in Taekwondo and Jiu Jitsu. Mike was the ultimate optimist and felt fulfilled when he was able to help those he crossed paths with. He found the most joy in spending time with his family and friends.
Mike is predeceased by his mother Martha Downing Still, father Harold Edwin Still, son Michael Edwin Still, Jr., and first wife Melody Still Teague. He is survived by his loving wife Tara Manchester Still; daughters Amy Still Porche and Kaitlyn Still Guzzardo, D’Shae Mineo (Steve); sons Scott Smith (Robin), Jacob Givens (Britney); sisters Deborah Hamilton (Richard), Cynthia Still, and Pamela Still; brother-in-law Greg Manchester; nephews Chad Bourque (Zuemy) and Lance Bourque; grandchildren Jeremy Porche, Jr., Ashton Porche, Isabella Still, Nathan Smith, Talley Smith, Grayson Guzzardo, Thoreson Mellem, Kailey Priest, Nathan Mineo, Adi Mineo, and Cora Givens; father and mother-in-law W.S. and Yvonne Manchester; and family friend Jami Capello and her children Hannah, Bryson, and Emerson Capello.
A celebration of life service will be held February 17, 2023 at Seale funeral home in Denham Springs, Louisiana. Visitation is will be held from 1pm to 3pm, with the celebration of life service to follow at 3pm. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire medical team that supported and cared for Mike and his family. They would also like to thank Dr. London Guidry and Heart of Hospice for the wonderful care and support they provided.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in honor of Dominick Manchester.
