Gay Lynn Elliott Smith, a resident of Denham Springs, LA, born in Brady, TX, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2024. She was 74 years old. She enjoyed watercolor painting, bird watching, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She served 28 years on the mission field with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention for her Lord and Savior. Visitation will be held at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church (19421 Greenwell Springs Rd., Greenwell Springs, LA) from 2pm to 4pm on Friday, October 11, 2024. The service will be at 4pm conducted by Pastor Oren Conner. Internment will follow at the GSBC Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, David Smith children, Michael Smith and Sarah Smith Bridges (husband Bronson) and three grandchildren London, Lottie, and Roman.

She is preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Christina Elliott and twin brother, Mike Elliott.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made out to the International Mission Board with a notation in the memo “In memory of Gay Lynn Smith” and mailed to 3806 Monument Ave., Richmond, VA 23230.

    Michael Jason and I are so sorry to hear about Aunt Gay’s passing. He’s told me so many stories about her. Prayers for the family.

    I’m so sorry for your loss. I have such special memories of Gaylynn’s joy and hospitality and her kindness to care for me when we were on the field together. I’m so grateful to God to have known her and David. I’m so thankful for the life they have lived for Jesus. Praying for your family at this time.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I have such special memories of Gaylynn caring for me like a loving mom when on the mission field together. Her hospitality and joy made me feel so at home in her presence. I’m grateful to God for her and David’s life for Jesus and to be blessed by them.
