Anita Faye Palmer Smiley, age 66, went to her heavenly home on March 14, 2021, while surrounded by her loving family. She was a lifelong resident of Walker, who loved her family and the Lord. She fought a courageous battle with breast cancer for 20 years. She loved shopping, traveling, spending time on the river with her family and her beloved dog, Max. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, John Smiley, her daughter Shannon Verbois, son Jordan Smiley, wife Melanie. Three granddaughters who she loved dearly, Avery Shaffer, Kadence and Harper Smiley. Two brothers, Ray, wife Sharyn, and Gary, wife Kay, sister in laws, Theresa Turner, late husband Danny Turner, Loretta Smiley and Susan Norman, husband Larry, along with several other nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Samuel Edward Palmer, wife, Lanzy Graham Palmer, and brother Glenn Edward Palmer, wife Joyce and daughter Marilyn. Visitation will be at 10:00 on March 19, 2021, at Judson Baptist Church, with services by Pastor Willis Easley until celebration of life services at 12:00. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery. Family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. McCanless, Hospice of Baton Rouge and Jake’s on the Avenue.

I am so sorry about Anita! She always had the spirit of God in her Seen her a long time ago but it was just like yesterday we talked and she smiled As I left her I thought she is still the beautiful person she was in school! A Angel has went home ! Praying for Gods peace upon all of you!

Anita was a special lady who loved her family wholeheartedly. She was always kind to everyone she came in contact with. I will forever cherish my memories of her.
