Melvin was such a warm a friendly soul. I could certainly see the love of God that flowed out of him. He always had a friendly welcoming hello to someone he had not seen in awhile. He will be missed by all especially his beloved family and church. To all those who are looking for Christ appearing we look forward to seeing him again.

I have so many cherished memories of Melvin, Elaine, & family & remember their wedding day on Sept. 15, 1966. While driving for YRC out of Memphis Tn. to our terminal in Baton Rouge, he would pick me up @ the motel & their hospitality was exceptional! Elaine’s sound marriage counseling over 46 years ago, I still cherish today! It was 1 week ago today of my last call from WV to Melvin Dale as he so looked forward to his wedding day on April 24th to Sis. Lana Johnson! To Sis Lana & all the Doolittle family, we grieve with you! May the God of all comfort be w/ each one! Melvin & Elaine ministered for the Lord 18 1/2 years @ the Baton Rouge Church of God chapel & their labor in God’s work will be greatly missed! Our love & prayers for comfort thru the days ahead! Beyond the sunset recitation is so fitting!

Please know of my sincerest thoughts, prayers, and condolences to you all. Your Dad/ Grandpa shared his family and many of his life experiences with me for many years while we worked together and he imparted a lot of wisdom unto me during some very formidable years of my adult life. I respected him greatly and was very fond of him…and of all of you through his sharing. I will NEVER forget his impact on my life. Regrettably, I am not able to attend services but my heart will be with you all and I will remember Mel forever.

We send love to you: Missy, Marita, Eric, and Charles. We are saddened by this news. It pulls our thoughts back so many years ago to those days in Missouri when y’all were kids and our Tammy and Tim were kids then too. Your family was so fun. Rick and your dad would play music together. You sweet Mama made the best homemade brownies. We loved getting together with y’all!
Your dad was such a kind, happy man. I know you’ll miss him terribly! We are praying for you.

So many happy memories of Melvin and his family when they lived in Springfield. We shared a lot of time together always with the guitars and singing. He was always very upbeat and fun to be around.

Melvin Dale was a great and very talented guy. He moved to Guthrie when he was about 14 I think. He was over to our house one day, and saw I had a silvertone guitar with a book titled “Learn to play the Guitar in 7 Days”, but as far as I was concerned it was a big fat lie. Melvin excitedly asked if he could borrow both. I said, “Sure, but it doesn’t work.” Sure enough, a week later he came back over playing the Guitar and singing! Real talent! I have lots of good memories of him. God bless and comfort the family and Lana. This is Jerry.

Melding was such a gentle person. I remember his ability to take a word and pick up his guitar and write a song. Truly one of Gods gentle people.
