April 1, 1941 ~ October 6, 2021

Clarence Richardson died peacefully on October 6, 2021, aged 80, in the company of family.  Originally from Jackson, Louisiana, he was a resident of Denham Springs, and was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Deetie Sue Odom.  He is survived by his son, Keith L. Richardson and his wife Wendy, as well as his beloved grandchildren, Davis and Avery, and his sisters Linda Morgan, Fran Scallan, and Martha Allen.  Clarence was a proud graduate of Louisiana State University, like his father before him, and was a long time employee of Dow Chemical until his retirement in 2001 following a heart attack.  From that point, he effectively began a new life as the blessed recipient of a heart transplant.  He worked diligently thereafter as a tireless spokesman for organ donation.  Clarence was an enthusiastic member of Live Oak United Methodist Church, and took immense pleasure from his role in the church’s choir.  A memorial service celebrating Clarence’s life will be held at Live Oak on Sunday, October 10 at 1 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made in his name to the LOPA Foundation (Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency) in furtherance of Clarence’s mission to encourage and promote the great gift of organ donation.  Immense thanks to the transplant team at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans, whose persistent care directly enabled 20 additional years of joyful and purposeful life.  Thanks as well to the caring team at Ochsner Hospital in Baton Rouge for their support and efforts at the end of Clarence’s journey.

Clarence was a wonderful Christian man. We met about 13 years ago and enjoyed talking with each other about our transplants. He will be missed
