Strange, Carl

July 30, 1938 – April 17, 2022

A loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew and friend went to his eternal home on Sunday April 17, 2022. He was 83 years old. Carl was a retired Chemical Engineer from Dow. While working at Dow Chemical in Research and Development he created multiple patents. He loved following the Strange Family genealogy where he produced a book documenting the Strange Ancestry back to 1743. He leaves behind to cherish his memories; son, David Strange and wife Gina; three daughters, Vicki Matthews and husband Darrell, Cynthia Small and husband Randy, Kristi Acosta; eight grandchildren, Derek Matthews and wife Lauren, Morgan Sandifer and husband Jared, Trenton Strange and wife Channing, Megan Savatgy and husband Joey, Brandy Jones and husband Grafton, Brandon Avants and wife Chantelle, Halli Byrd and husband Patrick, Landon Acosta; ten great grandchildren; Aunt Adine and Uncle William Taylor; two sisters, Retta Maxey, Annette Strange and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A graveside service will be held at Big Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 28 Big creek Church Rd. in Soso, MS., on Tuesday April 26, 2022 at 11a.m., conducted by Rev Frank Stagg. Pall bearers will be grandsons; Trenton Strange, Derek Matthews, Brandon Avants; nephews, Mitchell Maxey, Larry Hill and friend Chad Broussard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Strange and Thelma Strange Iosty; daughter, Pamela Strange and two sisters, Gladys Marie Hill and Janice Reeves Bennett. Thank you to Sunrise Assisted Living on Jefferson Hwy for taking great care of him. A special thank you to his Caregivers, Edna, Megaly, and Sara (Life Enrichment Mgr) along with his nurses, Shay, Dixie and Ashlei.     Pawpaw strange, it was a honor to be called your grandson,I know you are in a better place now ,I would like to let you know that Iā€™m graceful for all you taught me from sassafras tea, honey bees, and working hard in gardens for what it seemed to be a little reward, most of all teaching me perseverance!We had some really great times together .until we see each other again, I ask you watch over me and tell Pamela, I said hi!

    Sorry to lose my redneck friend from Hebron, Ms, my Sunday school class and eating lunch friend. Also fishing in his pond in McComb, Ms.

    His friend from Summerland, Ms. I will see him in Heaven soon.

    I will never forget Mr.Carl and all of our fun times with the Red Stick Cloggers. My prayers to his family and friends. May you rest in Heavenly peace, Mr.Carl….I know you’re clogging away in Heaven teaching others all you know.
