Richard Lawrence “Dick” Yott – born on July 22, 1933, in Momence, Illinois and passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at his home in Denham Springs, LA.  Dick was the son of George L. Yott and Cecile M. Pallissard.   After serving in the U.S. Army, Dick met and married Shirley Mae Lecuyer.    Together they had four children:  Renee (Don) Belcher, Ethel, La., Ritchie (Deborah) Yott, Zachary, La, Andrea (Lance) Bonadona, LaPlace, La and Matthew (Anita) Yott, Denham Springs, La.   Grandchildren include Lauryn Polite (Jason), John David Belcher, Shannan Bogard (Cleman), Joshua Yott, Sophia Bonadona, Marissa Hofstetter (David), Brandon Burt, Jackson Yott and Jenna Yott, Landon Wall and John Robinson.  Great Grandchildren include Wesley Bogard, Christian Yott, Kent Yott and Landry Polite and Merrick Hofstetter. Dick is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy (Jay) Griswold, Katie Higgason, Frannie Newberry, Joanne (Mike) Sherwood and Rita (Dave) Horn, and many nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his wife Shirley and son Ritchie.  Brothers-in-law Cliff Higgason and Jack Newberry. Dick was passionate and well known as a high-performance race engine builder.  His fascination with engines began in Chicago in 1957 where he began work, with his father, rebuilding diesel locomotive engines   Working and rebuilding engines led Dick to a long career as a salesman for SPX Corp, which brought him to Louisiana in 1971, where he lived the rest of his life.  In Louisiana Dick met and had long standing friendships with a vast array of people associated with and in auto racing. A wake will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs on Monday, August 21st from 5-9pm, and viewing and a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs.  Visitation begins at 9am, with Mass at 12:00 noon.  Burial will follow in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery.
