Glenn Ray Wunstel, 72, a resident of Bayou Pigeon, LA since 1981, was taken home on Monday, Feb. 28, 2022 after battling cancer. He was born July 16, 1949 in Baton Rouge, LA. Known to older friends as “Prophet”, Glenn was a dedicated motorcyclist who transversed our nation many times, making it to Alaska twice. He built motorcycles from the ground up and machined parts for professional drag racers. He worked as an expert machinist and a truck driver. Little was more important to Glenn that fishing. Many friends and family members have a plethora of comical fishing stories, most originating from the Atchafalaya Basin, where he resided. He is survived by his brother, Ronald Wunstel; children, Glenn E. Wunstel, Shane Lambert (Jill), and Christophe Wunstel; grandchildren, Noal Wunstel, Eric Wunstel, Lane Lambert, Jarod Carroll, and Wyatt Lambert. He was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes Navarre Hays; father, Edgar Wunstel; step-father, Sarge Hays; brother, Wayne Wunstel; sister, Barbara Downey; and best friend, Jerry Strickland. A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, March 12, at Hilcrest Memorial Park, Baker, LA.
